OK, ran the usual search and found nothing. So I got a clip on mirror for looks and help with blind spots. Now my mirror bounces like no tomorrow  Major speed, bumps, loud music all lead to a nice vibration in the mirror.

The question: Does anyone know a fix to steady the mirror? (and please no "take the clip on mirror off", etc smart-ass answers) I was toying with finding some rubber or something around it (black rubber-band?) to give it something to help steady it, but was hoping there was somethin easier.

Thanks in advance!!!
:chug:

ok, so it is the factory mirror and it only shakes when the clip on mirror is attached? sounds like it cant handle the extra weight. the only fix that will work and look ok will be to take the clip on mirror off. my only other suggestion would be to drill a hole and put a screw in to the ball joint on the mirror. You could then position the mirror and then tighten the screw so that it doesnt vibrate. however, i doubt this would work too well or last a while.

im still trying to figure out how a clip on mirror can be considered a "looks" upgrade.

here is not the exact one I have, but gives you an idea. Mine has nearly no top or bottom border and has two silver side strips. I have gotten several compliments on it actually.

Here one is on a camry from TN

I will try to remember to take a pic tomorrow and post it. I love the mirror!!!

no the only thing that shakes is the mirror itself. the arm in between is steady
Try to put a thin piece of rubber/foam between the 2 mirrors. That should tighten the clip and bond the 2 together. A small piece of bicycle tube will do.

yea my broadway shakes too. out stock clips were strong enough i guess. i got use to it and only take glaces. i find blind spot mirrors to be much more useful for blind spots though
If you adjust your side mirrors properly than there is no need to add additional blind spot mirrors that look like crap. Most people adjust their side mirrors too inward & they see the side of their car & the image is almost the same as the rear view mirror. The way to properly adjust side mirrors is to sit in the drivers seat as normal, for the left mirror, tilt your head to the left until it touches the side window & adjust the mirror from that position. Do the same on the right side but move your head to the right about 12" & adjust mirror. You will than have a little overlap between all 3 mirrors & your blind spots are taken care of. Car & Driver even had an article on this same thing several months ago, just to show people that they've been doing it wrong the whole time!

it is not the clips holding the mirror on that is loose at all, it is the ball and socket joint holding the stock mirror that shakes.

Why do you even feel the need for this mirror? With all the stock mirrors adjusted properly there is no need for anything different. ;)

Not sure if there is one in our cars, but in my 94 corolla there was an adjustment screw on the back of the mirror. When I put my subs in the car, the bass made the mirror go straight down . Then I found a screw on the back of the mirror, tightened it, and that tightened up the ball joint I guess because it became much stiffer to move and I didnt have any problems with it moving after that.
