I noticed today that when I downshift from the paddle-shifters when the transmission is on D the big shift number along with the shifting diagram doesn't appear on the screen. It shows on the left corner of the screen that it downshifted, but does't show the big numbering like it used to? Anyone know how to get it back to appear? Now when I move the shift knob over to S and use the shifter or paddle shifter it shows the big shift numbering and shifting diagram. How do I get it gear numbering back when the shift knob is on D while using the paddle shifter to downshift?

(Below is the attached pic of the shift number and shifting diagram I'm talking about)

I believe that is normal op's when in 'D' ... furthermore, when in 'D' and you paddle down a few gears for engine braking and come to a stop sign, it will auto shift back to 'D'.
It's not normal. Whenever it was on D and you you use the paddle shifter to downshift it used to show the gear position before switching back to whatever multi info screen your was set to. I use it a lot for braking especially when coming to a traffic light when its on D so I know its not normal. If you have a new camry 15-17 with multi information screen try it out and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, leave the car on D then downshift with the paddle shifters, it should show the gear position number and shift diagram!

I see what your saying now ... my car is exactly the same with small indicator lower left of multi display. Probably another over air system update like when the compass changed from red arrow to car.

Crap really!?! Now that you mention it went to the compass now I have a car also.....I hardly ever go to the compass. Can the camry's really receive over the air updates?? When did they send the over the air update? Took the car in to have them install a mirror tap for the escort passport couple weeks ago and everything seemed fine until yesterday when I noticed it wasn't showing anymore unless the Shift knob was at the S position. Oh well screw that new over the air update, they should at least let us know before it happens!

Not sure, however, if wasn't for you guys mentioning these changes, I probably would never notice

But yes, paddle indication in the MFD was different than it is now, but I thought it was a smaller indication of what happened in sport mode.:dunno:
