I've had my gen4.5 for about a year now, and I've done lots of stuff to it:
Viper Remote Start, Modded front/rear lights, OEM wood kit, shift knob, shift boot, etc..

I really like it and everything.

Now, my parents are getting a car to replace their 2000 bmw 528i. It has 2 key marks (visible marks, about a foot long each), went through a $9k accident (insurance paid), and with about 50k miles.

I have a chance to inherit that car instead of them selling it. (hand me down) The accident will show on carfax and the key marks we are not doing anything about.

Should I inherit it and sell the camry?
Because I know the accident and scratch marks will seriously hurt the sell value of the car.

well, it's like this: I bought my gen4.5 with money I earned myself. For me, It's something of a trophy of my hard work. My parents had offered to buy me a new car, but I wouldn't have it. I wanted it to be truly mine, something I worked for and got.

Maybe that sounds stupid to some, but it really means a lot to me. Obviously, the value of the 5 is greater than the camry, but I can't afford to buy it from them, and having it handed to me makes me feel as if I'm dependent on them. I hate that

There's no question the 5 is a sweet car.

911.. i doubt they'd spend that much. their last car was a 545i so it'll probably be around that range.

I drove around the 528i for a few days, and honestly, as a daily driver, the camry is more fun to drive.
The 5 requires a lot of arm and foot strength. gas pedal is heavy, and the wheel requires more energy to turn it. I feel more bumps with the 5, camry kinda floats over them.

thanks for all the replies, i've come with a final conclusion.

I'll take the bmw if I can get 13k for my camry. It's really in excellent condition, and It's not worth it to me to sell it for less.

My personal view of the 528i, is that it is really about the image. Perhaps the M-series cars can be praised for performance, but the 528 has nothing to brag about in terms of performance.
I still believe the car is underpowered for so much weight it has to carry around.

I view it as a car to get somewhere in style. To drive by and have people stop and look at you and think “wow. That’s a nice car” and having you smile to yourself at the thought of that.

The feel of the drive just isn’t that great. The camry is just a fun comfortable car that’s easy to drive and push, it only is lacking in luxuries and equipment. I pushed the 5, it groans for mercy at high rpm's. My camry purrs on its way up, kinda taunting you to push more.

Toyota engineers really did an excellent job, and the camry truly is a great car. I'm really happy I was able to have it as a first car.

The only reason I'm even considering the bmw is for the brand name, and for the image of myself driving down roads in the 5series which so many people admire.
