So this summer I'm planning on getting either an All-Pro plate or a Shrockworks bumper. On either of them, I would get no hoops and have it powder coated black. I like both of them a lot but there's pro and cons as usual. I started this thread so that you guys could give me your opinions on what you like and hopefully some useful information on these products that will help me make this tough decision.

Shrockworks with no hoop:

PROS:
-Super stout
-Follows fender lines better than All-Pro
-Great quality and amazing welds
-Correct mounts for 4" lights and holes for lights on top of bumper
-Strong recovery points
-Looks killer!
CONS:
-Heavier than most OR bumpers
-Expensive!
-Most likely will take a long time to get here
-Have to do a lot of drilling for the installation

All-Pro Just imagine w/o hoops or look at 6Shooter's

PROS:
-Cheaper that Shrockworks
-Mounting for 4" fogs(although tabs are not in the correct place)
-Lighter than the Shrockworks
-3 part modular so parts can be replaced
-Strong recover points
-Also looks killer!
CONS:
-Doesn't follow fender lines near as well (stops at about half the distance of fender)
-Maybe not quite as stout as the SW
-Comes unpainted (have to deal with the hassle of taking it to a shop and them probably overcharging)
-Most likely take a long time too.

This is such a hard decision! I love the way the SW follows the lines of the truck better but I'm worried about the weight. I'll be going with a full OME setup with 886's too so hopefully neither of them would make it sag too much.

Give me your guys' opinions and thoughts/information. Hopefully this thread can help other people looking into this in the future. Thanks guys!

i like the shockworks, but for the price i like the all pro better man.
I hear you dude, but I've been trying to add it up...The AP is $700 unpainted. Add probably another $200 for powder coating and you are already at $900. The SW is $934 with no hoops and it's $150 to ship. The AP is probably about the same to ship so we are talking probably less than a $100 dollar difference.

To me 100 bucks isn't THAT huge of a deal. It sounds like you like the SW better anyway because it follows the fender lines and has the correct mounting holes for the lights. It being heavier is a draw back, but look at it as an upside of being able to take more abuse.

I have the Shrockworks and I love it. There isn't really that much drilling, just two bolts in the front of the frame and a few to hold up the plastic inner fender. It is a heavy SOB and the front saged about 1/2 inch until I install the lift.

Thanks for posting that up tomster! It's good to hear input from guys that have them. And thanks for everyone else's input too. Keep it coming!

BTW tomster, what lift did you install? OME? And if you did OME did you get 886's?

I don't have the money for either, but I'm watching to make up my mind as well. Here's something I wonder about so someone chime in with an opinion as well:
The AP is "modular" so you can "replace parts". Does that mean you NEED to replace parts? I mean, being able to repair it is nice, but that almost makes me think you NEED to repair it often.

Or is that "just in case" since they know they went with thinner, weaker material that could be bent if you hit a tree? To me I guess if it bends when you hit a tree it's failed. Sure it may have protected the hood, headlights, grill, etc, but if I have to FIX something what's the point of dropping $700-$900 on a bumper? I could just save the money and repair the factory crap! Not to mention you're paying the $700-$900 for the bumper plus whatever it costs per replacement part, time/labor to replace it, and paint or powder coating again....

Only thing I don't like about the SW is the weight, but I'm planning on getting 886's for it anyway. I'd like to know I spent $900 or so to be able to deflect a deer back off the road!

i see your point. the AP is very sturdy though. yes, you can bend it if you hit a tree-but you could bend an ARB, SW, or whatever in the same way, the difference is that with the AP instead of trying to bend that thick-ass metal back into place, you can just replace the corner that was damaged.

I ordered a shrockworks bumper about 4 months ago for my 97 4runner it finally came, and I finished installing it about a month ago. I really like it. It is very heavy duty and the fit is just perfect. I can tell alot of thought went into making the bumper. I got the prerunner model with just the center hoop. Later I will probably order one for my 08 double cab. The only thing I dont like about it is the clevis mount. It is made of 1/2 metal, but I think it should of been made of 3/4 inch. The next time I order one Im going to request the clevis mounts be 3/4 inch. I know 1/2 may be plenty strong but with 1/2 and the clevis I ordered from SW it is not a tight fit. The clevis just flopps around damaging the powercoat. 3/4 inch thick would solve that problem. With that said I love the fit of the bumper and will order another Sw's bumper for my 08 later.

I like botha them... i like the fit of the SW but i like the look of the AP. Personally, if i were getting one, id go with the BENTUP bumper that HOSS from TTORA has. The fit and lines are awesome.

i prefer arb. its cheapest for the money. but second on my list was shrockworks. i liked the allpro before, but know not so much. I dont care too much for the way its built and the replacable parts kind of scared me away. if u can afford shrockworks and dont mind waiting a few months, then go for it.
