I just purchased and installed my new Sirius Sportster 4 and have observed some static while listening to the radio. Does anyone know if the stock headunit on the 2005 Tacoma TRD has RCA jacks to do a direct connect from the Sirius unit to the Headunit? If if does, can someone give me directions to get to the back of the headunit?

Thanks

I had a Starmate replay before a major stereo system change. I got a lot of static until I installed the FMDA25 modulator. It plugs into your existing radio, your antenna plugs into it and the small wire plugs into your Satellite reciever. It takes all the noise out by internally disconnecting the vehicle antenna through an internal relay.
I doubt seriously there are any RCA jacks in the back of the radio, however you will need to pull the radio to get to the antenna if you want to go the FMDA25 route. Do some shopping because Best buy and circuit city wanted over 30 bucks for it. I found in a local shop for under 20.
Here is what I did and I also show you how to remove the radio in my 2008 Tacoma Double cab. Your dash is probably the same. You need to remove the heater controls to get to the radio bracket bolts. Click on the link and scroll down towards the bottom of the page. Good luck!

I had a similar issue. Buy the 25-30$ FM Modulator for sirius bought mine at best buy. Pull out your radio: Unplug the antenna from the radio and plug it into the modulator and plug the modulator into your antenna. There is another wire on the modulator that plug directly into your sirius docking station. Choose a station with the least activity and set it in your sirius unit and viola...done. There is enough room to put the modulator behind your dash to the right of the radio. There is a small opening that goes to the glove compartment area....thats where I put mine.

no

the DIY folder has instructions on how to take your HU out. basically, 4 10mm bolts behind the AC controls, then pull out

Thanks for all the help guys. I went to Best Buy today and picked up the Sirius FM Modulator. Paid $30 for it. After getting home it only took twenty minutes to install and the sound quality is 100% better.

Thanks again.
