some people...

At work this week a guy saw me pull up in my car and asked me how long I've had my DeLorean for... I'm pretty sure he saw me get out of my car and my doors sure as hell didn't open up upwards and I don't belive they had pop up headlights as well.

So after I told the guy no he then asked me if it was some sort of Ford...

I again answed no and he looked puzled so I toled him it was a Toyota and left it at that.

Some people really can't tell the difference between cars.

HAHAHAHA.....That is really bad. My mom is horrible at telling cars apart........but that takes the cake!
Thats so funny....I probly would have kicked him in the jimmy!!
I was washing my GTS the other day and this old jamican lady pulls up and yells at me nice corolla!! I live in a small town way up in BC canada so ae92's are rare....and then I pulled all the decals of the back of the car so you cant tell its a toyota unless you look at the front grill.

Anyways I thought the old jamican lady was cool for knowing that I had a corolla GTS.
lol! yo gord, at least your car gets recognized, and even popularized, all i get is:

"oh! is that a corolla?! like initial-d?!"
me: "no, sorry, it's the newer fwd corolla coupe."
them: "oh, yeah like i love the rwd boxy hachi, so much cooler! you can drift all day long. i didn't even know they had a fwd gt-s." :disappoin

man, even resale on the ae86 seems higher than my ae92, heck even sr5's & sedans have higher prices than my gt-s :cockblock
i always have people thinking my car is either a silvia (yes, people get confused) or a honda.... toyota NEVER crosses their mind
there's a reason i left the toyota symbols on the front and back.

whenever i get around to doing the custom emblems, they'll still be toyota ones...just a little different than the norm. fortunately, most people recognize the toyota chevron...

at least i'm pretty sure they do...
There's this one time some kid said nice civic, and I was like WTF and I pointed straight at my window banner which said "corolla", dont understand how he missed it considering the fact we were talking infront of the car????
this is why toyotas need to start getting into the main stream. most people thought my wagon was a new 00 or 02 model but they didn't know who made it..and these were the MP's on base:eek:
toyotas just dont get any respect like all the other cars....I think mostly becuase us in N america get wattered down grandpa cars....I think if we could get our hands on the cars out of europe it would be a lot different...........hey then maybe toyota wouldnt be so freaked out when they look at the sales sheet at the end of the year and be shocked that all there selling to is old people!!

Ohh and personally I think toyota should be back in the WRC!!!
Odd...since the boomers are taking over the universe, that bodes well for Toyota in the near-term. Keep in mind the ridiculously low numbers of vehicles Toyota sold just 10 years ago. That's why no one recognizes them today.

Long term that's a problem as the kiddies still go for those pos Honda's. But the winds of change are coming as Honda can barely give their cars away now.

Check back in 10 years and see what's changed. When Toyota's selling 170,000 cars in per year in Canada, it's hard not to get noticed. :D

Ya, I don't know why people don't wan't the FWD GT-S. It is still a nice car and in my opinion it looks better.

I'd like a AE92... as a winter car. j/k
Well only kind of. I'd go for a SR5 or a 4 door for a winter car.
they should sell a rally version of the corolla.........powerful with good suspension.......so ppl and buy it and let it rip on the track.

very much like the STI
*deep sigh*

stoplight with a scion xB next to me, he honks and signals for me to roll down window
"hey buddy!" ::thumbs up:: "nice car! you think you'd consider selling it?"
"thanks, nah i just go it."
"oh. is it the RWD version?"
"nah FWD."
"oh, those RWD versions are hot!"

go to hell.
I agree with you on the tuned corolla...but they dont use the corolla in the WRC any more......so who would buy a rallied corolla that dosnt exist?
I defianeltly think that they need a car to compete with the mitsubishi evo's and the WRX.
^^ They do still use the 'rolla in the Rally Australia champs - Group N cars with the 3S-GTE in them... if only they would put them in the WRC tho...

actually subaru has been hiring people to scout information online for any wrx/sti etc owners with their names in autox and road course lists.... any subaru owner with their names on there automatically have their warranties voided

Ya, I was going to say I thought they still use the Sportivo for rally. I've seen it do ok but the S2000 always seemed to kick it's ass when I watched.
I tried searching for the corolla rally car....are you sure they use the corolla.....and not the Yaris (echo)
if you know of a good site with pics can you post it...I'd like to see.
AE92's getting confused for a Civic?? weird.. what happened to me before was someone asking me why my Prelude looked different from others.. :hammer: dumbass!
these are the cars people think i drive:

- '80s toyota tercel
- Nissan Micra
- '79-'83 Honda Civic hatchback

hehehehe... it odesn't relly bother me when someone asks, i just think that they just really don't know what it is and basically tell 'em it's a toyota starlet. at least it's a good start of a conversation. we have to realize that not EVERYONE is into cars like we do. i mean, even some of us ("expersts") thought that that starlets are rotary equipped!
