something feels loose in the steering?

i noticed the other day driving my 09 trd access cab down a dirt road that once in a while i could feel in the steering wheel like the front suspension was loose or something in the steering was loose. i only notice it on dirt roads or rougher terrain or going over bumps. i dont offroad the truck or beat on it so not sure. anyone else notice this before?
