I have an '04 Matrix base model with stock steel rims. I was wondering if a full size spare (a 16" stock steel rim) would fit in the spare tire well or is the spare tire well only sized for the spare tire?

I've tried a standard 16" wheel in in mine & it wouldn't fit. Seems the well is made for temporary spare only.

but would u be able to fit a tire from a 03+ corolla? since there tires are smaller
