Hi,

So, the first few miles it reads 120 mph when going 50. After a while it calms down to 70mph.
Could be anything IMO, maybe the sensor itself or a bad capacitor in the ECU or something.
Replacing the VSS would be fairly easy so I tried finding the VSS on the transmission but couldn't find it.

Anyone have a picture of the location of this sensor? Or experienced the same problem?

The ABS light is also on (started way back before this speedometer problem), don't know it that's related.

Hello you can have it scanned, post the DTC codes here.
When you have codes it is easier to determine where the problem is

I think I found it on this picture, top right, above the drive axle. Was looking at wrong places...

In 1995, all USDM Celica's had the 5S-FE. The OP's thread title includes 3S-GE, so Eric's 1995 GT is not a USDM model. It is also as ST202, which were not available in the USDM. ST202's were available in Japan, Europe & Australia.

Eric, it would be great if you could help a bit more and let us know the VIN or frame number of your 1995 Celica GT. That will help us understand which market it was manufactured for. Then we can tell you if you have an electronic or a cable system for your transmission output speed information. Then we can maybe help you with your issue.

ST202's were available in Japan, Europe & Australia.

Aus 6th-gens are all 5SFE ST204s except for 77 ST205 GT4s.

OK. I understood the General group (which had ST202's) included Australia. My bad if it does not.
