I actually got a chance to drive a US production SmartCar and I wasn't all that impressed. The handling, brakes, and ride felt fairly unrefined and underdeveloped. I truly thought I was going to enjoy driving the SmartCar around, but I just didn't! The car doesn't even feel that luxurious and some of the materials feel poorly put together. Surprising considering it's price!
I sure hope Toyota brings the iQ to the US! It seems like a much better urban car. I'd much rather have a durable, reliable, and well-built Toyota!
ARE YOU LISTENING TOYOTA?
I'm not tyring to be a dousche or anything but that is not true. How far did you drive the car? 5 miles tops? Were u driving a preproduction unit? I have put 400+ miles on our fortwo and i can tell u this thing handles like a jack rabbit. It takes corners better than my xrs and stop a hell of alot faster. We have over 2,000 miles on it and we have never had any problems. The smart will do much better in snow than the iQ b/cits rear engine rwd setup and traction control (old VW beetle anyone??) it gets anywhere from 33-37 city mpg and roughly 44 hwy mpg. Anybody who thinks they are shit obviously hasnt driven one 4 more than an hour.. If its such a bad car why would toyota try to copy it??
