everytime i come to a stop my truck makes a really loud squeeling noise. sounds like its coming from the left side of the engine but im not sure. I felt on the belts and they didnt seem loose but im thinking thats what it is. i dont think its the fan either. also, everytime it makes the noise when im coming to a stop my lights go dim and the heater kinda goes down but when i get back on the gas the noise stops and my lights come back on. Thanks for the help

Sounds like a belt needs to be torqued some. With the electrical problems my guess is the belt on the alternator. If you torque it and your lights still dim you might be about to lose your alternator completly and youll have to retorque the belt when you replace it anyways. A lot of places do free checks on that so you might want to go get it checked out before you mess around with trying to tighten up the belt.

Keep in mind that it is normal for some loss in power when you come to a stop. My heater blows a lot less when i am idleing (its because the alternator isnt spinning as much and no air is being forced in) and my stereo gets a tad quieter.

I had a problem just like that on my MR2 last year.. it was the remanufacturered alternator that I put in it, the housing itself (where the bolt goes through) was getting worn out which caused the alternator to shift making the belt tension looser. sounds like you may have the same problem. good luck
