I just changed out my non SR5 speedo (no tach) to the SR5 tach and speedo in my 84 2WD. (gas/carb.)
The only problem I am having is the water temp gauge doesn't seem to be working right. When I start the truck the gauge starts at the far bottom as expected but after only about 2 - 3 min. the gauge jumps to the half way point and pretty much stays there.
I've been working on this problem for a month or two now without success, but all my wiring is ok as the gages works the same whither installed or if I just use jump wires and test the gauge on the bench.

Any ideas on what I might try next ??

The gauge gets its ground, power and signal through the brass standoff's holding the face plate and servo assembly. Pretty cheesy. If you take the gauge out of the cluster and simply tighten these standoffs just a little bit you will get through the oxidation on the traces that could be causing this issue. I had a fuel gauge that was acting weird after the same swap and that's what solved it.
