SR5 vs TRD

Silly things that make one model more attractive than the other.....

Question in the TRD where does the compass and temp gauge go in the overhead console? in front where the "garage door opener spot" is or behid that replacing the sun glasses compartment? I've searched and can't find the answer here.

17" tires get worse gas mileage than 16" ?

Sport seats more comfortable than the SR5?

Thanks

Jump in what ever car/truck/bike/skateboard you have, and head down to your local dealer for a test drive, and answer the questions for yourself.
OK, so the temp gauge is in front - I see no use for that "garage door opener" pocket.

The seats, I'm looking for your input - I've sat in both and don't feel that much differencs, but I only drove it for 3 miles.

Mileage - ????
My dealer has a Indigo Blue SR5 with the options: 6 disc cd, floormats and sill, limited slip diff, tow package, 16" wheels. 4 miles on it and I drove 2 of them.

for $1,000 more I can get the TRD Sport w/ 17" wheels, the sport seats, the overhead console, the power outlet in the bed, the sport suspension....

I guess I'm trying to talk myself into the SR5 if I can get a great end of the month deal.

well then does it matter about the seats? our asses might like the sport seats more doesn't mean that you will like them. mileage? better with the auto thats all i know about that. i think you should be asking do i like the look of the sport enough to buy it or does the scoop annoy the hell out of you when you drive it? its all personal preference its your truck don't let us tell you what YOU like.
I don't like the scoop, but I can live with it. I like the idea of the seats , the temp gauge, the 17" tires and the power outlet on the TRD.

For the SR5 ... The TSB takes care of the sport suspension...... I like the chrome bumper and black door handles on the SR5....... If I get better mpg on the 16" tires I'd like that too.

Giving myself a headache..

i honestly dont think that there is that big or a difference if any at all between 16" and 17" wheels 16" tire cost less to replace i do know that. you like the features of the sport get it and there are a ton of ppl on here looking for colour matched grills and hood with scoops if you decide you don't like them. another thought about the wheels your on TN you're going to replace them anyway so is it really that big of a deal what size they are. welcome to the money pit that is Toyota Nation take good care of that money tree you're gonna need it if you stick around here but the mods are oh so rewarding.
if u like the black handles and the compass, get the trd offroad model, plus u get the locker, which is much more capable than the sports LSD if you ever offroad. i dont understand why toyota puts the higher price tag on the sport just for the scoop and a few extra painted parts while u can get a more capable rig for less..

I'm liking that bumper more and more every time i see it i might just have to get one in the future.

Ah - I forgot the long bed which takes the TRD Offroad... Offtable.

Your rig looks like it's ready for some rock jumping. I'm more dirt roads then mud and rocks.

thats not my rig man i was just commenting about his bumper and what are you talking about long bed offtable? a short box double cab would be better for off roading than a long
Hey HD, still shopping huh? Try this for overall views of the TRD sport long box exterior and interior. http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/do/MediaNav/styleId=100793726/firstNav=Gallery# once there, click 360 degree tab and it will let you tool around to your hearts desire on the exterior or interior. The interior view is especially good.

Unfortunately there is no pictures/360 views of an SR5 model at that site.

EDIT: I should note that this model truck has every factory option available...

Wanna race? :naughty:

Well the TRD Sport is all you can get if you want to have a usable Long Bed
All a matter of preference. I personally got the SR5 because I plan on replacing all the shocks with Bilstein 5100's and buying aftermarket wheels/tires. If I had the Sport, I'd still be doing all that. I also think the hood scoop is annoying and useless. The seats, I noticed no difference when test driving either of them but again, that's just me. So, in the end, I'm saving money because I won't be paying interest on things that I would not have used anyway.
Hood scoop is neither annoying or useless:D as I enjoy looking at and waxing it, feels good:Bruce:to me...:smokin: So there:heart:

Right, it's all personal opinion. If it had some useful function, such as air intake, I'd be all for it. Still don't like the look but at least it would have a purpose other than looks. But if that's your thing, cool. Definitely do what makes you happy.

I can just picture you out there with a silly grin waxing your hood scoop.
If you're serious about off roading and want the best of the best, I'd get the SR5 and upgrade with some ARB air lockers.

I got an SR5 for that very purpose, plus I didn't feel the need to dish out for extra things like the sport seats (my SR5 seats are fine, will be even better once I get some Wet Okoles), and the "premium" sound package they come with is crap. As far as wheels go, the TRD wheels look OKAY, but I see them so often and the tires they come with are crap so I'm happy with my steelies until I can upgrade them later on.
Ok, hold on a fricken second. I have a trd sport sr5. And I am pretty sure they all say sr5 on them
I had a hard time deciding between the trd vs the sr5, but it came down to this for me:

=I will haul sand and yard things with the truck, and I could see that getting into the bed outlet and messing that up very easily, plus I would rather have the extra storage
=The compass and temp I read was not very accurate at times
=The suspension, well once you have the TSB done you pretty much have the same thing and you get a rear end lift
=the seats, well I personally liked the sr5's better
=not a big fan of the hood scoop either
=big fan of the chrome bumper

thats what helped me choose the sr5, and I dont regret it
