Anyone gone in for the Stop/Start recall yet? I understand notification from Toyota will be coming in May?
No side effects ?Yes it took less than an hour.
No side effects?Same here. Less than an hour.
Nope. Couldn't tell they even did anything. No side effects ?
Yes, it was probably done already. It was changed on the manufacturing line in mid-March, and dealers can't sell new cars that are part of a recall until the remedy is applied. The Toyota Web site is very much on top of whether your VIN has any recall work pending.Since I picked up my car on 4/4, do you think this recall has already been performed? When I put in my VIN number in the Toyota website to check on any recalls, I do not see any.
Had my recall completed this morning. Now the engine does not turn off when I come to a stop. Yes,I do step on the brake all the way. 😱
Mine did not show on the multi info display until I had driven around town for a little while. I don't know if it needed to relearn/reset itself but works fine know.Had my recall completed this morning. Now the engine does not turn off when I come to a stop. I called the dealership shortly after my post & the head mechanic stated the same thing. There are 14 conditions the computer checks before the stop/start is engaged. I'll need to notice the head unit next time I go for a drive..I think it's wishful thinking that the update somehow disabled auto start/stop.
There are a lot of reasons why it won't shut off the engine at a complete stop. Outside temperature and battery charge level are just a couple. I've noticed that the multi-info display will tell you why it's not shutting off the engine, or else it starts a timer to show you how long the engine has been off.
Pages 266 & 267 of the owner's manual lists all the conditions and limitations of the S/S system. No need to wait for your next drive to determine what's happening as it could be any number of things.I'll need to notice the head unit next time I go for a drive..
That's great because I would not like it to stop anyway. Imagine all the wear and tear on the starter at least! Does the inhibitor switch still seem to work at all on the console? Did the dealer explain what the upgrade entailed?Had my recall completed this morning. Now the engine does not turn off when I come to a stop. Yes,I do step on the brake all the way. 😱
TOTO, Have you had your HL in for this recall (RA5" yet?I think it's wishful thinking that the update somehow disabled auto start/stop.

I was leery also but was free so I went in. They were NOT busy at all. They kept their distance and had the chairs in the waiting area 6 or more feet apart. Had hand sanitizer at the service desk. They also disinfected the inside before I got in it to leave. With all that I felt comfortable and safe with experience. As for the sales side of the dealership there was no one around.No. I'm still a little leery about the idea of a person I don't know getting in my car right now. It's probably paranoid, but that's the time we live in at the moment. To those who have been there, what did you notice that was new at the dealer with respect to the pandemic?
Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to do this one because computer upgrades are pretty simple. In fact, I want to do it before the car is due for the first six-month Toyota Care service because I don't want them even rotating the tires. Last thing I need is the lug nuts cranked down with an impact gun by someone in a big hurry.
