216,000 miles
About once every 5-6 starts, all I get is a painful grinding sound from the starter. The contact are new.
I took the starter to an auto electric shop this morning. After explaining the issue, the guy behind the counter said, if the contacts are new, he wouldn't know what to repair. He put it on his test bench and didn't see anything wrong.
He asked if I had looked at flywheel for damaged gears. At that point I had not, but did so this afternoon. I rotated the engine by hand several times and don't see any chipped or broken teeth.
Any ideas?
