Any idea why this happens? My guess is a stuck solenoid plunger. Never saw this one before in all the years messing around with vehicles.

I found the problem with mine to be in the ignition switch. Try spraying some penetrating fluid into the key slot. Take a look at it when you turn the key and make sure that the key is coming back to acc when you crank the engine.
