So as with most people upgrading a stereo, I was deciding on which stereo to get and after much research and many questions I decided to get a double din Kenwood DDX372BT.

After receiving it and waiting for nice weather, me and a buddy <<(wires cars professionally) discovered the deck itself will fit but not the Din Cage. The stock dash kit also has an odd shape to it in that the top part fits a single din but the bottom is slightly smaller but can be larger if there was more plastic to work with.

My question has anybody ever done this or has somebody have any recommendations for a kit for a 1990 4runner?

I've seen picture of people mounting them but can find just basic instructions.

Have you tried Crutchfield for a mounting kit?

Won't be easy from what I can tell.

Kit looks like it is 1.5 DIN.

You can MAYBE cut some of the dash and fiberglass something it, but it won't be easy or cheap ...
yes the metra brand makes it as a 1.5 din but I have found some double din universals you just have to carve out the dash slightly. We have this weekend off ill update if we are able to do it or not.

Another option I've found is removing the din cage all together which might also work.
