I haven't seen this problem before. Sometimes when I stop my '97 corolla and I go to press on the gas pedal again it becomes very hard to push. After that it's normal until I stop again and then the same thing happens again. So initially it feels like it's stuck. Cable is free, there is no binding and the gas pedal itself is free. When I open the throttle body manually I do not feel any resistance. I have lubricated everything yet the problem persists. Any ideas?

Thanks!

clean the throttle body out to start with, sometimes carbon gunk will build up around where the plate rests and will do that.

if that doesnt help, it could be a problem where the car is exhibiting a symptom that when the gas is applied from a dead stop its hesitating, that can feel just like a sticking throttle.
