what do u mean by ping problem???.....
well it starts in the fall it has a detonation sound i've gone throught this last year with JH the dealer can't figure it out either?????????it only happens when it approaches boost i don,t think it cold because it happens sporatacly<sp I just have a KN cold air and ko exaust factory boost...
well, isn't there an intake air temp sensor? i mean, i remember on the GT4 specifically that there is a mod to 'trick' the ECU to think it's 70* all of the time. what does that have to do with? the GT4 is a 3SGT-E
so you think the air temp sender is bad? would that cause an engine light,I have no lights and the dealer checked the codes, but it is random when it happens other than the obvious cold start.

u have good ears to be able to hear ping..i would have no clue what i'm listening too...
take a 3/8 socket extension bang it against your cylinder head it sounds like that, sorry this is frustrating I just went out for a ride and got that sound and no boost?????faulty waste gate???? I was discussing it with my brother and the hoses shrink up in the winter could I be leaking boost?????I had the timming belt replaced last year could they of f-uped the belt, buit it dose not do this in the summer t_stat to cold??It seemed to have started when I replaced the air box with a K+N, but I don't see how that would effect it?
more airflow. try using a prefilter charger on your K&N if it's an open element type.
it does, but pre-ignition sounds like marbles rattling about.MRQturbo said:
it's a wrap that goes over K&N open element filters made by K&N. it provides more filtration especially on dust roads and mud and stuff like that.

did you happen to mess around with the afm when u changed the intake??....
I just removed the factory air box and installed the KN with the adapter for the cone, I did remove the AFM but I remove the cable with the clip not the screws, I did make a vacume line longer so I could turn the assembly toward the air intake on the side of the car. Do you think the engine is getting to cold of air???
