Is anyone here running an after market sound system with the factory head unit and a DF-toy? How is the sound quality? Any hissing (like white noise) or similar?
Because of some things that may (or may not) be happening soon, Im thinking about dumping my current head unit and going back to the stock deck with a df toy. Im just concerned about the noise at low volume levels.

I have the JBL system and its sucks A$$. Your gonna waste your TIME and MONEY if you try to use your stock deck. Trust me on this one because I wanted to keep my stock deck and now I'm gonna buy an aftermarket one.

I know the stock system its self sucks. I already changed my entire system and because of my current deck I added an EQ to better tune the sound quality.
But for the guys with after market speakers and subs, but still running a stock deck, How does it sound? Im more concerned about low level noise than quality I can tune it with the EQ and amps.

i have done the opposite, i replaced the head unit first, and i can say that sound quality on stock speakers is noticeably better with an alpine head unit as compared to the stock 6 disc changer.

+1 The stock system, in one word for me, was MUDDY. Changing the desk improved that immensely. Speakers to go in soon, but I'd say the stock deck is 70% of the problem.
