Hey guys went to have a muffler shop hack my resonator off ( The second cat looking thing, behind the cat) At any rate the muffler shop said they can't

remove that because it's a :Bruce:? Anyway does anyone know for sure? It looks like a resonator and doesn't have an o2 sensor behind it so I'm thinking it's there to control sound? Any help appreciated, ph I have a 2.7L RC if anyone cares.

I'm not sure what part you are refering to. There is a cat for each bank of the engine, then the exhaust pipes come together. Then there is the muffer and on out.

Got a picture?

If you look inside the Y-pipe you will see all the waffle cone stuff, which means that it's a catalytic converter. A resonator just has baffles in it. A resonator is basically just a little muffler. Cats cost a lot more than resonators.

*edit*
But you did say you had the 4-cyl. I've never worked on that engine, so I can't be sure what your exhaust system has. But this ^ is how it is on the V6. The V6 has 4 cats.
