Strut bar and hood.....

I got my strut bar today i bought from Blue Meanie. When i put it on, my hood was tough to close, and when it did, i noticed the left side was not flush with the body. I took the bar off and everything is fine again....anyone run into this problem before? Im guessing the bar is a generic ebay special, but i could be wrong....anyway, any help would be great!

i got an strut bar from ebay and it fit fine with a couple washer to make it clear the intake manifold. other then that, i dont have any problem.

He's saying it's too high though, are there any washers under it. And some pics would help.

is it one of the adjustible strut bars chad?
the ones that actually are three pieces and are independantly adjustible on each end where the strut bar mounts meet the actual bar?

yea man, it has a nut at each end of the bar where the connectors go

i think that allows you to move the sides up/down independantly
it should be as easy as pushing the left side down and tightening the nut and it should allow you to close the hood correctly
if not, it could be bent and will need to be bent back into correct shape to fit properly

i know what he mean.. maybe i was clear as in what i was saying.. when i got mine, it was too low. so i dont know why his is too high...

It is kinda hard without pics, but here's a question for you. In relation to the strut towers, is the bar more toward the front of the engine bay or the back of the engine bay? If it's more toward the front, just flip the whole thing around, brackets and all.

Check out the strut bar bracket in the upper left of this pic. Are your brackets in the same orientation?

i had one on my gen3s and it did contact the insulation a little. but adjusting the nuts on either side helped center and load the bar.

The connection was in the front of the mount, opposite of this picture, I didnt even think about trying it the other way because there is a sticker on the bar, so I assumed it was the front where i could read it. HAHA. I will try this when I get home. I should be able to take pics now, I use my camera phone for pics and yesterday I put on the bar at night, so no light.

I need to get a digital camera.

Yeah, just switch the brackets around to keep the sticker in the right position.

Im not too worried about the sticker, its kinda ripped up anyway, i should probably clean up the bar and re-paint it before putting it on anyway...lol, but oh well, im gonna try flipping the bar when i get home.

Installed.

ok so i flipped the bar and it lets me close the hood easily now. It looks lifted a bit still, just like 3mm on the left side, maybe....but its MUCH better than before...I still might need to adjust the connector nut on each side, or the left side, ill do it this weekend. I could feel a difference tho when taking a few quick turns today.

Of course the pic i take of the gap is at night because im dumb and didnt take it after I installed the bar....haha you might be able to see....

Glad to hear it's working better now. My first instinct was to tell you to flip it.

The sticker is one of the first TN stickers ever. I think It was put on while the bar was doing duty on a buddy's gen4 so it could have been put on the wrong side.

The end nuts were never adjusted between being on my gen3 to the gen4. Once it came off the gen4 it got tossed in the back of my garage for several years.
