Sub always sounded boomy, sloppy. I have everything out of the shelf while futzing with the shade, driving home with the sub out one day, turned on a CD and wow, did it sound great. Not the deepest bass, but really clean. Been shopping for a better sub, yes the hole fits any 8 inch, clamp or glue the new one in. Being cheap, I put the stock back in with a 4 ohm resistor in series with each voice coil and there it is. Deep bass, and I can hear the bass lines now as opposed to bass sounds. Sub output dropped about 6db. 4 ohm, 25 watt metal body type resistors. A $10 fix.

Great cheap fix. To bad that most people just want the boom, and don’t really care about clarity. “If it ain’t rattling, it ain’t bass” 🤣 🤣 🤣

The other amazing kida cheep fix is rip out the electrolytic caps stuffed the tweeter frames and replace them with polyfilm caps, Audyn or Jantzen Standard Z ( the blue ones) ( Parts Express) you'll need to add some wire to mount them remotely, you won't believe your ears. And leave the dsp surround off with CD. Love it though with the mariachi station on.
