I WANT TO PURCHASE A NEW 4RUNNER. MY ONLY GRIPE IS THE GENERAL RIDE QUALITY. MOST OF THE USE WILL BE STREET/HIGHWAY WITH FORAYS INTO THE BACK COUNTRY BUT NOT ROCK CLIMBING OR RADICAL OFF ROADING. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR SUSPENSION UPGRADES?

Upgrades for a smotther ride? 4Runner is not really designed for that, if you want smoother ride go for a Highlander. 4Runner is built more like a truck, body on frame construction. You will not really get a smoother ride unless you change springs, shocks etc. Usually the suspension upgrades make them more off road capable, and resulting street ride is degraded. Additionally, it has a solid rear axle.

My 2016 is just fine on the street, it drives and rides like a truck. I knew that going in. Maybe you should look at a Highlander for your daily driver and get an older used 4Runner/FJ Cruiser/Jeep for your forays into the back country.
