Reading through the previous threads has already answered a bunch of my T100 questions (seatbelt retractor, front end shimmying), but here's one for you:

My 1993 T100 has a strange rattle/clunk that seems to be new and kind of worrying. It occurs on rough roads (railroad track crossings, potholes, wavy asphalt). Sounds like it is coming from the front left corner, but when the rear window is open it sounds like maybe it is the front left corner of the bed. It sounds like shaking a spray paint can, but with a much bigger ball bearing in it. Very solid "clunk" sound. This ain't no sheet metal! There is also a higher pitched squeeking rattle on rough roads, but the clunking is new.

Has anyone else had this clunk/rattle experience? The suspension isn't getting any younger, so I wouldn't be surprised if it needs some work, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks! I have some more questions to follow.

I have the clunking issue and found that the tailgate supports were slapping back and forth. I took them out and tested this and it stoped. I also have a squeak from the front end that I found to be the hood latch and greased it and it stopped. Hope this helps.

Look under the truck at the front wheel suspension(which ever side the noise is coming from). Check to see if the front stabilizer bar linkages are broke. I had the same noise and scenario/issue on my 93 T100. They run around $10 to $20 each and take ~15 to 30 minutes to change.

Hope this helps

Hood Latch Squeek......

Amazing. Today I spent some time tracking down the source of a terrible squeek. The source turned out to be a dry hood latch just like "bindertch" found. I had removed the front wheels and checked the shock tightness too. To find it I opened the drivers door and shook the heck out of the truck, with the hood shut. Heard the bad squeek. Opened the hood and shook the truck again and no squeek was heard. Closed the hood and had my wife place here hand firmly on the closed hood as I shook it and no squeek! She's a genius she is! Spayed white lithium grease on the offending area and kazaam.....No More Squeak! Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees! Love this forum and I am learning a lot of stuff. Thanks guys and gals!
