I finished installing my TacoTunes stuff.

Couple questions for others that have this same setup.

1) What the heck are the 4 nylon spacers and plastic rectangle that come with the wiring kit?

2) How are you guys anchoring your setup?

3) What all did you have to cut off from the back cabin wall? I only cut the 3 large hoops and the enclosures went in ok but not perfect.

My final install looks pretty good (too bad my seats wont go down to show it off).

Thanks

1. Can you take a pic of the parts?

2. What do you mean by anchoring?

3. I didn't cut anything at all from the back.

My seats go down and I have a Type-E in there temporarily. Just gotta force it. I'm going to be running the same subs like you, but with the PDX series amps :naughty:

When I say anchoring I mean how to secure the 2 enclosures and the amp rack? As of now, the only thing holding them in is the force of the seat. So stuff can rattle if it wants. Dynamat may fix the rattle though.

Yeah. There was no way the boxes would have gone in if I didnt cut the 3 large hoops that, I think, are used for legacy (old) car seats. I remember reading somewhere that it was a must. I dont know if these were there on all years.

This isn't my picture but you can see the remaining hook (center) and where the 2 on either side have been removed so the box would slide in to place (you can kind of see where the metal crinkled a bit.

The PDX amps are great but the V series have nice covers that hide the wires. Plus the V series are quite a bit cheaper.

Thanks for the input.

EDIT: oh yeah... Here are the pieces in question.

The seats are all you really need to hold the box in. Even when the seats are folded down, its still a tight fit. Adding Dynamat or something similar would cushion it a lot better, and of course get rid of a lot of rattle. I guess the Taco Tunes boxes, and the ones from Mr. Marv require you to remove the hooks on the cross member. My box needed no removal of any metal parts of the vehicle. I double checked before I put it in. Took a tape measurer to see the height of the indentation on the box, and compared it to the vehicle itself.

Thats cool. No big deal. I just ripped them off. There is no way anything would fit back there because they stick out about 2.5 inches.

Yeah. Ill probably just dynamat the entire back when it warms up and that will take care of any squeaking. That line-x on metal is a recipe for squeaky.

What does your sub enclosure look like? You running 1 or 2? I may take out one of mine and put 1 small storage rack back in. Running that amp with a 2 ohm load with those 2 S series 10s makes the system pretty bottom heavy. I probably only need 1 woofer in that little truck.

Thanks for the replies.

Right now I'm running a single 10" Type-E. Its powered by the 3rd & 4th channel bridged. And its in this box right now.

I wanna get 2 subs to even out the bass in the cab. Theres sufficient bass on the driver's side, but noticeable difference on the passenger side.

rutherk1 that piece you are referring the plastic rectangle is a washer that goes inside the sub box that bolts to the back of the cab..here is link that might exlpain it better http://www.starmanage.com/installation/tacosubinstall/IMG_6077.html .Also I did the single sub from tacotunes and one v-power amp. I"ll post some pictures..

Looks good. I may go down to a single sub on the passenger side and gain 1 storage box back. The system is a little bottom heavy right now.

Hmmm. I do remember seeing that washer for bolting the enclosure to the cab but the piece I am wondering about is the nylon square block. Or does that perhaps go somewhere aid in the securing? And if that is the case, you would think I would need 2 of them.

Thanks for the replies guys.

When it isnt cold out with 2 feet of snow on the ground, I am going to take out the back seats and try to get everything secured/dynamated.

I may be able to secure the boxes to the existing cubbie mounting points by taking out the sub and screwing it in from the back. Anyone do this?

I did this to secure my sub box to the back of the cab. I custom made my box similar to the tacotunes dimensions, and I drilled the two holes in the crossmember indent of the box. You NEED to make sure you measure many many times and drill once. You don't want to drill in the wrong place so that you don't end up with a hole in the back of the box that isnt needed. I have mine bolted right to the drivers side 10mm cubby mount bolts, and I have ZERO rattles, and the box sounds great. Only pain is if I ever have to take the sub out (which is likely to be never, or until I sell), it makes it a pain to take the sub box out. If I am not mistaken, tacotunes actually recommends fastening to the rear of the cab. Looks good BTW.

Thanks for the input. That would be ideal to bolt it using the cubby bolts. Ill have to do this when I clean things up a bit. Dynamat the back then mount up the box. I think I can secure the amp rack to the enclosure(s) and that should secure it.

Thanks also for the compliments. The TacoTunes boxes are pretty nice - saves me alot of time building one and with the Linex - looks better than if I had built it myself.
