maybe do it if you get all the parts dirt cheap and know they are in proper working order.

Would be a huge ass project. in my opinion. Guessing that you would have to use a chevy rear end in it also, unless you fabricated something up or unless you know something i don't.

The of course you are going to have to make your own or buy new engine and tranny mounts. Hook up a new cable pully for your carb And I am sure i am missing out on a bunch of other things you are going to have to do.

Hey,

Its been done many times before. I actually almost bought a truck with a swap already done. I believe a body lift might be required for clearance issues but Im not sure.

Anyways google it, its been done many times, there are also many aftermarket parts available for the swap with no fabrication required.

You don't need a chevy rear axle either, the toyota axles work fine.

I'm a machinist and a welder, which means that metal is putty in my hands, mwahahaha!

Edit: Okay, I'll tell you; I machined the weld off the transmission end of the front half of the driveshaft, then welded in the chevy slip-yoke that fit the 700R4. Easy as pie.

87 is an independant front...Think I'd do a solid front axle....if I was going that route. I decided to build a22r instead. I drive it on the street, race it in the mud....and gets good gas milage. I've seen Toyota axles survive 400hp in the mud behind v-8 muscle!!!! Do a search on youtube for "benwill1".

Hmmm... ok lol, i just know that if you do it wrong and it is not balanced right you will get one hell of a vibration.

They can still be balanced.
And if you are worried about that balancing issues on the front, you will love the square tube drive shafts guys are using on there SAS's trucks.

If you care to read more about the square drive shafts:

As for the V8 conversion, check out Pirate, there are numerous guys that have done it. There have also been a lot of 4.3l conversions as well.
