If you've installed the Terk XM Kit on your camry, where did you mount the antenna? OEM position? Roof?

If OEM position, did you mount on metal? How did you acquire metal bracket?

Thanks

I've got my Terk on order, I was planning on putting the antenna in the same place my current third party antenna is, on the deck lid (outside) - but it's black, and so is my Camry, it's not so bad looking. I've not figured out how to get the cable to the roof cleanly yet thought!

the only issue i have with mounting on metal is the fact that if you go through a car wash, it slides and will scratch your paint.
water also gets under it, and can cause paint damage and rust

when i had XM on my gen 5, i ren the wires under the doorsills and behind the backseats, and had it mounted along the rear window and it satyed just fine there and got good reception, and since it was inside did no paint damage

Unless you have to have it on the outside, I still think the "stealth" installation that my local shop did in my old XLE was by far the best way to go.

The antenna is "supposed to be on metal." So, what's underneath the plastic "parcel shelf" in the back window? A great, big metal shelf. And that plastic won't block any signal whatsoever. So, just get underneath the plastic parcel shelf, and put it on the metal shelf underneath it. Nobody will ever know that you've got a satellite radio in your car. Perfect!

Otherwise, I suppose it ought to be just like the OEM installation -- as far towards the back of the car as you can possibly get it, to get clearance away from the roof.

Do you (or anyone else) happen to have photos of the installation location on the interior of a gen6? I'd love to get it off the outside of my car - but I'm not quite picturing the location (and my car is at home).

I've also been thinking of locating it on the roof, under one of the sharkfin antenna covers I've seen posted here before, but I can't figure out how to get it located up there, without exposing some wire between the trunk lid and the bottom of the window rubber - and there is no way I'm drilling!

My Terk antenna is just sitting on the rear deck in the factory position, but it's not attached to a metal plate. It's just sitting on a non-slip pad. My reception is perfect even without the metal contact plate.

Thoots- was the "stealth" antenna fastened to the metal shelf under the parcel tray, or was it just sitting there, ie:, trapped between the plastic and metal? Taped? Screwed? pressed into plastique....?

I just don't know -- I've never actually "seen" it. It's "magnetic," right? As in "designed to be attached to the roof of the car?" If so, I expect it's just sitting on the metal shelf under the plastic shelf, hanging on because it's magnetic.

If not, I expect something like double-sided tape would work just fine....
