As the title states, I am test driving a 2006 5-speed Matrix later today. Owner sent me maintenance records (included) and CarFax report, which look good, but wondering if there are any known or common issues I should be on the lookout for during the test drive.

Anyone have any huge cons to warn me of before considering this purchase? I am looking to replace my daily driver.

Thanks!

Which state or province is it from? Maintenance record looks good. Lower quarter panels below the doors tend to rust away from behind. See if they still feel solid, between front and rear wheel wells.

Did the owner say if the car was parked outside near a beach? I would do a pre purchase inspection. Any maintenance records? How's the idle? Smooth? Hatch struts for operation. Shifter, clutch, and brakes.

That's a good sign that he or she kept records of what was done to their vehicle. If the test drive went good, then that's another plus. I like to try and find out why people are selling their car. Some want a faster car with more power (stay away) and others just need money (strong consideration) others just want something newer. (good news for the buyer) If the car is in good shape and drives well with little road noise, it sounds like it would be a good vehicle. For the most part, these cars are pretty dependable as was said above.
Good luck with your purchase.....
