I have a 2009 base 4 wd highlander. The text function on the radio does not work. It does not read cds or radio broadcasts. Does it need programmed or activated? My other car has no problem, so it is not the airwaves.

:welcome: to Toyota Nation!

Definitely something wrong with it as it should function like any other radio/CD player. Take it to your Toyota service center and have it fixed or replaced under warranty. Keep us informed of what happens.

Do you mean you don't have anything displaying on the LCD or just not text appearing? As for text appearing on the LCD, I only have text appear when playing CD with MP3 files (shows folder and file names). Other then that, I don't believe it shows song names for regular CDs or radio station letters (ie: WBZ) only frequency. To get text to appear for MP3 on CD, just hit text button and it will cycle thru album, artist, song, etc...

My 2008 Sport reads some CDs and lists the songs, artist, etc. as well as mp3 file names. Some new CDs don't show anything at all. It may be the CD coding. Troubleshoot with multiple CDs. If it is all of them not reading, then definitely hit the dealer up.

If your CD has CD text then it will display. It will display the mp3 info as well. however, they dropped the RDS text.. nit sure why they did that since it was nice find out the name of a new song.

oh, guess I should have been more clear. My wife has a 06 Corolla and when we hit the text button with the radio on it will display the info from the station (song name, singer, etc) so it really helps if you hear a new song you want to know what it is.

I am a little disappointed that they left this feature off the new cars, was it really that hard to add?
