So in canada toyota just lowered the price on almost all of their models including the tacoma. I bought a 08' 2.7L 4x2 SR5 back in december and if i bought it now probably would have saved $2500, which might have helped to persuade me to go up a step and get a v6 4x4. So thanks toyota, not that I didn't expect it to happen eventually just not this soon. the 2.7 was all I could afford but hopefully it will all be payed off in 2 years so ill be back toyota, I'll be back...

Bought my Tacoma 4x4 DC 6spd in Dec, got $3000 rebate from Toyota + $2500 from the store!! Can't complain about that!!
wait you got rebates because of the price drops? or was that just an incentive in your area?
wow is this ever a piss off. one month after i buy my truck and i coulda saved $2500. im gonna go cry myself to sleep
Go across the border, i saved $8000 on my 07 dc 4x4. No hassles, and warranty is valid.

not everyone can afford to pay cash
This topic does drive one nuts. I bought my truck in july, just before our lovely dollar skyrocketed and i coulda jumped the border and saved 10 grand on my truck. I was lucky and talked my way down to 6800$ below sticker price for it brand new, even tho it was an 06. If i would have waited a few months i coulda saved a few grand(supercharger paid for) and been driving an 07 or 08 model.:sosad:
I am pissed at the whole Canadian pricing BS. I couldn't even afford a new Tacoma if I was to buy at my local dealership.

I purchased a new 08 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab SR5 state side (picking it up in a few weeks) and my total cost will be under $30K. This includes my flight, gas, hotels, meals, gst, AC tax, RIV inspection. (No out of province inspection required on a new vehicle) My local dealership has the identical truck priced at $38500 plus GST.

Until I see a good reason for the rape job we are getting on our MSRP in Canada, I will not support local dealers.

If you can't afford cash, it's called a blank check loan....look into it, as it's another alternative to negotiating a fair price.

im a young guy with little to no credit rating.

your going to get shafted... This is the only downside to being real young
I bought a 2007 V6 TRD DC 4x4 with 9000 miles in Washington...private deal and saved 12000. Buying a new or newer Tacoma in Canada is a joke even with Toyota Canada offering rebates and incentives! Save yourself a buch of cash and do the leg work to purchase in the US. Don't be intimidated by RIV or the border crossings. If you have all your paper in order it's no big deal. It took me 45 mins to go through both the US and Canadian crossings at Sumas.
Yep, worth the effort. I got a cavity search crossing into Alberta on my first one. Took 5 hours at the boarder, but 2.5 of that was just the line up (Long weekend when our dollar peaked at $1.10 US). My second truck, coming into Saskatchewan was easy. 15 minutes done on my way. no search or inspection.

CK has it all right. The only reason I'm writing here and spending all of my money on mods is I imported a 08 TRD Sport for the price of a 2WD regular cab up here. Like CK and others have said, the process is simple and you save HUGE. RIV.ca and Red Flag Deals - Auto Wow forum say it all.

Most importantly CK, tell us what state you got lucky in and what options are on your new truck and what color? I found the Coutts border gals to be all young hotties and didn't mind the body search since I was doing the same with my eyes.

Yep, that's the guy that searched me!

I think the guys hat says "Toyota Canada"
You are correct westpoint, some of those girls at Coutts were hot....bitchy however, atleast they were to me after I got busted oogling them!

Saskatchewan was much more pleasant! I never got locked up, never got searched, didn't even question me when I had to use the washroom. (I even got a 60oz of rum and 108 cans of beer through!!)

My Tacoma is a 2008 4x4 Double Cab Long Bed SR5. Silver, with the tow package. Nothing fancy, just a nice new truck! I actually have two dealers courting me now. One in Kansas, and one in Carolinas.

I have placed a deposit, but no flight is booked. I am told it is still in the production line. I know my total will be around $29K cdn. Can't beat that locally, not even close!

To be fare, I will keep the dealership details hush hush until the deal is done. All dealerships are told by head office not to sell to Canadians. I don't want anyone to get in shit....what if the CEO is reading on here!
