The Beginning of Hoosier's Tacoma!

After a lengthy ordeal fighting with State Farm and the body shop after my 08 Taco was wrecked I now have my new truck! Thanks not to them but to my Toyota Dealer (Muncie Toyota Scion) who being a part of this six month ordeal took a loss in the end to help me get back in a truck that I can trust again. My old truck build can be found here. 2008_Taco_Build_(RIP)

I plan on going the same direction with this truck build, and are re-installing most of the accessories from the other truck. Spare a few things that aren't compatible. I'll be continuing my slow but steady expedition build in hopes that one day I can literally hop in the truck and be self sufficient for one to two weeks. As I enjoy camping, backpacking and caving. This truck can be an invaluable tool to get me to those places that are otherwise inaccessible.

Can't wait to see the new truck with all the goodies installed!
Can't wait to see the new truck with all the goodies installed!
After a lot of bumps in the road I finally have my new truck!

I got some pics of all the "new to me" additions. I'll be putting my take off accessories on the new truck this weekend. My dealer swapped the suspension over and it feels soooo much better than when it was on the old truck! They found another $1K to $1.5K worth of damage to the suspension that even I missed. Needless to say I'm very glad to be in my new ride!

Now to the eye candy!

So clean! A little different under the hood as well!

Night shot.

Wheel controls!

Some new buttons to push!

Removable rubber cup inserts now. Old one is still usable.

Changed the front door pockets. Not too fond of this as I like my maps close.

I'm not a fan of those gauges at all. I'm with you, I don't like the smaller side pockets in the doors either.

That being said, good looking truck man. It looks meaner on those tires somehow. I look forward to your new build. :) Enjoy it!
Looks REALLY good Jared, glad you finally got everything straightened out. You must be SO relieved now that all that crap is behind you.

Strange, I didn't notice my door pockets being smaller on my reg cab, but then I rarely use them. I'll have to look & see if they're also smaller on my truck. I love the new gauges, I find them easier to look at than the old ones.

Regular cab, if I'm not mistaken, has hand crank windows, doesn't it? Might be a completely different piece of plastic.

Hand crank windows, check. Wouldn't (couldn't) have it any other way.

Yeah, my truck's door panel is unchanged, still has the full map pocket. It is a completely different plastic panel, as the reg cab doors are slightly larger than the C or D-cab front doors.
Yep, it does look good. Ditto to the comments on the instrument cluster and the door pockets. I keep a small hand towel and my hat in the driver's door pocket. The hand towel is for dealing with drive-thru windows in the winter to dry off the inside door panel after getting all that rain inside, and for throwing it over my legs in the summer if I'm in the mountains too long and start burning on the legs. I sure wish they'd just eliminate the chrome grill and go color matched on all the trucks. But that is a cool color! If I'm not mistaken, you got the smoked headlights too.
The new instroment cluster is growing on me. Anything is better than a bunch of orange! I'm not a chrome fan at all but the grill isn't too bad with the Pyrite. Sure blends better than on Indigo. I'll still have a color matched grill one of these days, might paint one of my old ones black in the mean time.

Looks like I'll have all day tomorrow to spend on the truck! Some of the items to install are..

  • LED Map & Dome Lights
  • Skid Plate
  • Rear Diff Breather Extension
  • Fog Lights Anytime Mod
  • Extra D-Rings in the bed
  • Bed Mounted Axe/Shovel
I also will be looking for some type of plugs for the front bumper. As this truck came from Ohio, they had already tapped the front bumper for a plate. :disappoin Not sure why they did this truck before it was sold as my 08 came from Cincy with no holes in the front bumper.

Looks awesome!!! I am glad everything worked out in the end, although I have to say if SF hadn't dropped the ball you should have been in your new ride six months ago!!!
So sorry about the huge mess with the other truck! Glad to see you chose another Tacoma tho! This truck looks great, gotta love the color!! Can't wait to see the progress and lots of new pictures!

Good luck on your new journey!
Congrats! Looks AWESOME! You deserve it!
Put the truck to work today! My girl and I convoyed down to the river with some friends this morning for some canoeing and kayaking! Had a blast! Ended up having to haul one of my friends kayaks for him, so I used the new roof rack for the first time!

My tailgate, a work in progress. Flat black this time!

Hit my first real milestone today.

On our way out my buddy got his van stuck in the loose river rock so I got to do my first recovery in the new ride! Wish I had some pics of that! :naughty:

Walther P99 AS.. It's the 9mm version. Just added some tritium night sights last week. I'm on the lookout for the military green frame P99. Very hard to find. When I get my PC back up I'll post some gun porn! :smokin:

EDIT:

That's what I have ^ mine just has the extended clip release. This V is what I'm looking for! Hoping to have some luck at the next Indy gun show.

Well I got a surprise check in the mail the other day, plus I've been working my butt off and saved some, so it's time to do a little modding!

I really wanted to go ahead and get my ARB but it seemed smarter right now to get a few things done rather than just one big thing. I ordered a color matched grill for the new truck a couple days ago and will be picking it up at my dealer tomorrow or Monday. I'm also talking with them about getting some tint work done. I miss my tint something awful! And since the rear windows arent as dark as my 08 was I'll be getting all 4 done. A new Pop-N-Lock is in the works as well!
