You mean T terminal as in the terminal found inside the check engine/timing connector? if so it's on the driver's side fender wall between the AFM and power steering reservoir, see below for full details:

About half of the ECU codes stored on the first & second generation EFI Toyotas don't show a constant blinking check engine light therefore you must pull the ECU codes to see if a fault is registered.

To pull the ECU codes:

All 1980-1995 and including 1995 EFI equipped vehicle allow you to find engine and related faults by pulling the ECU (computer) codes without the need for a handheld OBDII diagnosis scanner, the sites listed below have the fault codes needed to pull the codes and the instructions on how to do it:

Pulling the ECU (EFI computer) codes is the first thing I do to diagnosis a problem thereafter I reset the ECU to see if the same problems show up and if so I then take voltage measurements at each ECU wire both with the engine running and not and compare with the factory service manual, I also close the ignition switch after a cold engine and also after a warm engine and compare the resistance values with the factory service manual. This technique will completely isolate your problem without having to do trial and error and it is the technique I use when repairing tv's, vcr's, home/car audio.

Thanks Sidney, I bought this truck last week and needed to make sure it was tuned up before getting a smog test and transferring ownership which is required within ten days of coming into the state from Washington. I ordered a factory manual from Toyota Materials but it is at least seven day out. The info label on the inside of the hood says to time it with the 'T' terminal (grounded) shorted to E1. It must be the one plugged into the blank storage socket in the fender well, next to the code terminal? It has a single female terminal. Am I right? The first thing I did was to check the ECU codes and none came up. Ya!! It seems to idle rough and sometimes it wants to die in gear, its an automatic. It sat for a long time, (10-15 years) and my next thought after the timing is maybe gummed up injectors or fuel system. I'm considering a fuel system cleaner, so can you or anybody else comment, otherwise I'm leery of putting a cleaner into it for fear it may just stop altogether. It may be better to let the regular fuel additives do the work slowly. Whaddya think? Any other suggestions from anybody are very welcome until I get my manual. Thanks in advance, mobilest

Sidney, found 'T' terminal

Okay I found it. I cleaned the Fed label and there is an illustration of a terminal with two females. That clears that up but what is the one with only one female spade receptacle? The 4Xcrawler site shows the two living in the fender wall but the single doesn't seem to be there. '85 EFI 4x4 Pickup, Extra Cab, Automatic.
The other connector is check fuel pump connector.

The check engine/timing connector is the code terminal and yes it's the one I and you described AND THE ONE FOUND IN THE LINKS I POSTED .

You should not of ordered the factory service manual from Toyot Materials Distribution Center in Compton,California because when I bought the one for my 1985 Toyota 4-Runner they charged me $80 for a reprint (photocopy) and shipped it by UPS who charged me $32.50 plus these bullshit custom & brokerage fees THAT DON'T EXIST but UPS are crooks and have gotten away with it for so long until one customer in USA got fed up and initiated a massive class action law suit against UPS.

You can download the free manual from:

Since you truck sat for 10-15 years then I am pretty certain you need a complete tune up:

Spark plugs & wires
Distributor cap & rotor
Air filter
Fuel filter
PCV valve
Clean throttle body
Oxygen sensor

Finally use Sea Foam product in your fuel, engine oil and intake. Buy all your tune up parts from 1sttoyotaparts.com out of Renton,Washington:
