I thought that my temp gauge sending unit was because it never moved but the other day I was towing my ATV on a 5x8 trailer behind my Toy and the gauge went up about 1/4 way but without anything it dosent move. I am thinking that the thermostat is stuck in the open position, sound right. I am going to replace the t'stat this weekend and see what happens.

You are probably right. I've had the exact same problem, and it was fixed by changing the thermostat.
