My Right rear quarter window shattered yesterday and needed to be replaced today.

Posting on here to let the group know. Part is like $177.

Safelite wanted $520
Local guy came to my office and was $347.

Checked and radio and keyfobs work perfectly fine (antenna in window)

there is a small gap where you can see electrical connections that you don't see on other side but he said its because toyota clips after factory get loose.

My closest dealer are AutoNation. and are EXPENSIVE and never called me back when i needed a quote.

My insurance deductible is $1000 so i didnt bother Geico.

Maybe a BBGun, but I would also suspect a ceramic chip or the like thrown at it to break and get access.(?)

Those prices are as much as front windshields. Some glass companies try and cut corners and use thinner inferior glass, or antenna components, etc. Make sure you get the type of glass installed to be equal to OEM, and make sure its clarified in the paperwork. Try and see how it arrives before the install. rechedule if the car has to sit and wait for the glass. Just come back so you see the glass put in.

Didn't completely break the glass, it wasn't to get into the car - plus why would you break the smallest window in the back, and then not gain entry. Like it was a driveby jerk. Glass guy said he's dealt with many over the last 2 weeks. I am going to file police report just so they know the address where I think it happened.

I checked before paying...it was the OEM pilkington glass with privacy tint.
It has a lifetime warranty from the glass guy that installed it. Also had chrome trim and flanges. Seemed like it was a drop in once the trim on the inside was removed. Set the glue, and then wait for it to dry.

Good to know there are backup antennae. Smart.

Didn't detect road noise yesterday. Will wash it this weekend and see if there are water leaks. Did fine in rain yesterday.

Sorry about your window op. Interesting info about the antenna. It cost me $300 to get my driver side back door window replaced and re tinted after I was broke into. The glass is $87 on rockauto. Se la Vie, I didn't want to mess with it myself and it has a warranty now. Not that I expect trouble.
