I'm in the process of replacing the timing belt & water pump on my '96 Tacoma 3.4L. I'm pretty much done w/ the teardown and was in the process of cleaning up the water pump mounting surface and noticed this rubber part on the floor.


Does anyone recognize it? It was pretty clean, which makes me wonder if it's something that just fell off my shelf or if it was something that lives under the timing cover.

THANK YOU! Exactly right. Now that I look, I can see the witness marks on the tensioner. It must have fallen out when I pulled the tensioner.
