if 295/70/17 tires would fit with a 2 1/2" lift. He said the shop actually had one with 305/70/17's. He also said that I just may have to trim a little and I will be fine. If you go with 285/75/16 then you wouldn't even have to trim. I don't have a problem trimming the fender well though, I mean even if it eventually gets screwed up they are inexpensive and simple to replace.

I asked in a previous post if 295/70/17's would fit. I didn't get much but further confusion since nobody answered me convincingly. I guess I feel a little more secure with my decision now that I heard it is possible from the source.
Backspacing of the wheel will be the key to fitting them. Call him back and ask what they were using.
What did they mean by, "trim a little?" I know I had to trim a little with my 285's, but I think 305's would stick out too far to not rub the chassis or body mounts to look good.
Turtleboy you are robably right. I just hope the 295's are a happy medium.
17's... Im guessing you guys have sports or just getting different wheels?
Wednesday or Thursday I will have 285-60-18 Terra Grappler's mounted. Let you know how that works. Granted they are a little shorter, but the width is close. Mounting on 9" wheels. Your planned setup sounds good for daily driving but you may have issues with any serious offroad adventures. That is a lot of tire for not much lift.

That is correct. No real offroading for me. I was refering to the height/width of his chosen tire and how it will fit within the wheel well. May need more lift to prevent rubbing while offroading.
well my truck is mostly going to be a street truck too. I may carry a heavy 5000 lbs. trailer once a year to tow my M3 to California for some events. That is the most "Truck" use this Tacoma will pretty much ever see.
im going to be running the hoes on my 05 but im staying with 265/75R16 just because im going to be offroading like daily.
if yall dont mind me asking how much excatly do they run for, and where did yall get them from...thanks
