Ok so my searching abilities dont seem to be working, I can only find info on group buys.

Anyone know where to purchase the TW 1 piece for our trucks? Tom Woods website isnt much help, it says their Tacoma stuff is under construction.

Thanks guys, ill be calling tomorrow. Took a vid of the shaft shudder... vikes!!!
I'd offer to sell you mine, but I don't think it would work with a 6". And it's not a double cardan which you might want with that much lift.
Here ya guys go... check this out.

Anyone know how to embed these vids?

I had mine measured out for a 3" lift. From what I've seen, it should work when I move up to 6".
Edit, mine is a double cardan.
I just wanted to let you know that's Tom Woods shaft is a hit or miss thing. They are reluctant to stand behind their shafts if you still have any type of vibrations.

The TW shaft took care of the shudder, but it caused a vibration at 50-55 mph.
Which to me isn't worth the money they charge. Especially when they don't really stand behind their product.

Try this guy!

It's a lot cheaper, and if it doesn't correct your vibration, at least it won't cost $500.

i only paid like $300 with the GB

Thanks Toku, I appreciate your input. Iv been reading some of your posts about the DS, and was worried about the 50-55mph vibe. I was going to call them today, and see if they would guarentee against it.

Do we need the double Carden with the 6"? That one on ebay looks great, except im not sure about this in the description... "FOR THE REAR SHAFT FROM THE CARIOR BEARING TO THE REAR DIFF"
Yeah, I only paid about $300 as well, but it was because of a group buy. Jumped on a deal, but everyone knows how long a plan is good for.

I think the regular will work with 6", but from all the reading I did back when I ordered I seem to recall the double was theoretically a better idea, and it cured (or didn't cause) the 50-55 vibe for some where the regular didn't (or caused).

There's two threads, both started by Pb, that have a lot of info in them about both TW and DC shafts. One is the group buy thread, the other one is his 'installed' thread. Lot to wade through, but worth the read.

Do you guys have the Dbl Cardan?
For our 6" lift you need to double cardan.

Mine was $479 but that was with s/h to Hawaii. I got it in the GB also.

Some people just got good shafts and some people didn't.

The thing about it was their Customer service. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I would never do business with them again.
(Not worth paying that much for a hit or miss thing)
I would look for a local shop, and pay the extra cost.

Sorry that's just my personal opinion.

I don't know if it was their shaft or my truck doesn't like them. The sent me one single cardan and two double cardan and they all vibrated at 50-55mph.

No, I just have the regular. I've never planned to go to 6", just 3" max. When I was originally looking into it everything suggested a DC for 6" as better, but the regular *could* work. Kind of like UCAs - you don't *need* them for 3", but it's better. But I'm hardly an expert (if you ask, I'll tell you I'm a total noob). :b

The DC was $365 in the group buy, so yeah, that shipping to HI is a killer. Some had good luck with them and some didn't. *shrug* I didn't have a problem with them, but I never did install it and don't fault you for your opinion. I wouldn't go back to a place I had a bad experience with either, no matter how good everyone said they were. :)
Thanks for all the info guys.

Tonight I tried some shims on the axle, and the carrier. I have it much better than it was, im going to try and find a local place that will make, and stand behind a custom driveshaft.

You still running stock gears Toku?

Yeah but I've been considering ordering the rear and front 3rd's for my truck probably going with 4.56 ratio.

Those look sweet! Well except the price

Not sure if id run 4.88's or 4.56's yet. Havnt put much thought into it
Ok guys. So I went to a driveline shop, they build custom shafts and whatnot. They crawled under the truck, said everything looked good except one thing. The U-Joints between the tranny and the yoke behind the carrier are out of alignment... Almost like the shaft was twisted! I drew the pic below to give you an idea... Can someone confirm with their stock shaft?

I asked about a new shaft, he said that a single peice would be way too long and I would probably get a high speed vibration if I did. Hmm! Im going to snap some pics later and see what Toyota has to say tomorrow. If not ill be taking him the shaft, they want to spin balance it to see if they can fix it, they said thats probably whats causing it

Ok, so I measured when I got home today. The guy @ the shop eyeballed it at 3*. Measures 2.5*... He said that would be the only thing causing the shudder and vibes. Read here(http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/driveline/) about the U-Joint phase...

Interesting that too long of a shaft causes high speed vibes.

I've got an absolutely HORRIFIC one at 100mph in my Tom Woods shaft. Feels like the truck is coming apart.
Needless to say, I keep it under 90 now.
