If theres one thing I hate in life, its a top speed limiter. Last night i was out cruisin hwy 400 and some mexican in a riced out 6cyl mustang(youd know if you saw it) pulls up next to me and takes off a bit. So I pull up next to him rev a few times, drop into 4th and the run began. I take off and he follows, 4000-4500 i start to pull away, 4500-5000 hes a half car back, 5000-5500 iv got him theres no chance in hell -in my mind- that he will ever catch me, and then i get 5800 and for some reason my tach stops! Initially i though i ran outa power so i put it into 5th to get a little more torque, nothing i had been stopped dead at 100 mph. By this time hes creeping up on me at a blazing 110mph(fords top speed), the next thing i knew i was staring at doofy ass spoiler and red neons and i was livid just seething with a blind hatred of that...im gona stop there before i offend someone.

Even my moms Galant can go faster than 100, in fact i got the sucker up to 125! I want it gone, i dont care how i just want it gone. What do i have to do?!? I know my car can do at least 120 with the given 90 hp and mby 135 with some aero mods. I will not be shamed again by that riced out Fajitas Mustang, my car has more style in its badly oxidized paint than that Mexi-Stang will ever have!!!

theres no top speed limiter, te problem is the low torque once you passed 5500-5800 RPM

if your talking sr5 you'll need a long run and a bit of down hill or a LONG LONG flat area to get it to 120. I wouldn't suggest it on the roads through meaning not gonna happen. Hwy 400 would be Ontario anyways? Unless there is a hwy 400 somewhere else.. but anyways 50 km/h over isn't worth it anymore

I still believe it DOES have a limiter because I was accelerating at a nice rate until I hit 100 mph and because I was out powering a car with nearly twice the hp and twice my displacement. Also if i remember correctly the peak hp of the AF is at 6000 so why would it stop dead at 100, especially with a tailwind.
Maybe Im in denial, I dont know, but when I get a set of headers and convert to racing oil and I go faster than 100 well I dont have a limiter, if not I DO.

I live in north Georgia and hwy 400 is the safest place for me to cruise, no cops and fairly empty. I guess I shouldnt be so upset i did beat a mustang, even tho it was a riced 6 cyl. All will be know in time.

dude... i have driven an sr5 for.... three years now? you can't be even a v6 mustang, and quit trying.

spend the money on a motor swap, or a turbo.... instead of bailing outta the impound after you get caught doing this kinda thing.

i confirm as theres no limiter, someone i know was able to push it to 180 km/h (near 120 mph for you americans) but it took something like 5-6 minutes from 170 to 180 km/h, the problem is the peak of both the torque and the horsepower (and the redline is not the peak of the torque or of the horsepower, only the max rpm at wich the engine can run safely)

and the headers dont give you much hp(maybe 1-2), and the racing oil dont even give you 0.1 hp!

and consider this : your max torque (as you have the 4A-F) was 95 ft·lbf at 3600 rpm, and your max hp was 90 HP (maybe 91-92 with that header) at 6000 RPM

I have hit 200 with it, trust me no limiter. Trust me... Not enough power. not sure if beating the v6 mustang is possible or not. But then again ren has said there's been cars he's been surprised to have more top end than them. the close gear ratio will give you more acceleration. But if that mustang is anything like my mom's Windstar it takes off the line but has no top speed, takes forever to get to 160 km/h and when it does it cuts out.

SR5s top at 100mph? GTS at least hit 125mph.. (my 89 GTS hit 205km/h about 127mph, 90 GTS only had it up to 195km/h about 121mph)
