LFA also had a great win over the SLS AMG in the AutoZeitung track test where it ran faster than SLS AMG around both Contidrom and AutoZeitung race track.

However, no one from Europe who has access to that article has yet put the scans up anywhere. It is not available in North America since it is in German.:disappoin

It's nice that it got some additional recognition considering that the power lap wasn't run in ideal conditions. They still called it a bargain lol

shouldn't they compare the SLS to cars like from Aston Martin and Bentley? since those cars are more of a cruiser type than a race track car like the LFA.

I think it was mostly because of SLR AMG being that type of a car that people think SLS AMG is necessarily the same as well.

Actually, SLS AMG is a serious track car, which was buit entirely around the concept of performance first. It actually has the same layout as the LFA. Front-engined, rear wheel drive midship layout. The weight distribution is the same as well of 62% back and 48% front just like the LFA.

The SLS is the stolen Viper that Mercedes pillaged from Chrysler.

So I take AMG was developing the next Viper for Chrysler?
Actually it was Dodge that started work on the next Viper and the SLS was a result of Mercedes taking interest in this. The two were developed side by side which was why the early SLS mules were more Dodge Viper. Of course eventually Mercedes drained the money and kicked Dodge off killing an immediate next gen Viper.

Yep. At least for now. I believe the current gen will end in 2011 or after. From what I read though, Dodge said it is interested in bringing it back, but maybe after the dust settles and the climate (market wise) then they could bring it back or a variation of it.

Although I'm more of a Corvette fan when it comes to America's "Supercars," I do appreciate the Viper. Its brute force, but not very refined. Of course crappy interior. Besides that I think its one of the most underrated cars today. But with the demands of more refinement and driving dynamics (taking curves) the Viper has tough competition. Sure its improved over the years but there is a shrinking demographic of hard core high performance drivers. Meaning they want a manual and basic stuff in the name of performance. If that makes sense. Hence why Ferrari and others are going auto. i know its marketing. But performance should be not just about 0-60 or how fast it can shift but driver involment and connection.

Viper is a nice car. I recently saw a Battle of the supercars of Viper SRT-10 vs ZR-1 on Speed channel.

Here is how it went down:

0 - 60 mph: Viper
Acceleration/braking (0 - 100 - 0 mph): ZR-1
Top speed runs: ZR-1
1 mile race: Viper led uptill 160 mph and then ZR-1 blasted past it
Road course head to head: Viper

Overall: ZR-1

It was a very close race and Viper edged out the ZR-1 in every acceleration test uptill 160 mph where it just fell flat after that and the ZR-1 just walked away.

Nice, but overall, Top Gear placed the LFA 46 out of 100 sexiest supercars of all time. =)
