Hi
I just noticed a vibration between 25 to 40 mph. I read online that many people are experiencing torque converter shutter. I took the car in to toyota Santa Monica, CA. They told me there has been an update on the software last year with the first owner of the car . They suggested me to take the car in for diagnosis as some dealerships do not update. They are goING to charge me 100 dollars if there is no problem with the car . I am aware of tire vibrations, but this happens when the car is cold, which is a symptom of the torque problem . What should I do if they tell me that there is no problem although I know the vibrations are coming from the converter.my car is a 2012 Camry 2.5L

I'm sure you've seen this! They know they have issues as you describe. But stand your ground. Good Luck.

If it's $100 tell them you want mech to drive car with Techs treat attached and you want print of the shifting.
If they say TS won't do that, tell them there's a tech bulletin that shows them how.

Mine developed the shudder at 30k miles and I really didn't take in until 80k miles. It wasn't really noticeable when I lead footed. Waiting was the best thing since the service manager took it me on the test drive. He was explaing how certain cars wouldn't show it until after 20 minutes and mine did it as he pulled it out from service lane.

The replacement takes three hours when good tech is assigned.

I saw something new yesterday...'15 Rav4 getting new torque converter under warranty. The coworker tech said it was more of PITA since he had to work around the AWD system.

I swear the Corolla is the only model with the least problems!
