On my 1986 Camry the auto transmission torque converter appears to lock-up every time the transmission up-shifts. During each shift, just as the shift is complete, the engine speed drops appx another 250 RPM. This is annoying as the engine power drops accordingly. I can override this condition by pressing the brake pedal slightly during shifts, which keeps the converter unlocked until I release the petal.

Has anyone else experienced this condition and would you know if the converter is controlled by a solenoid or switch that is replaceable. By the way, my 1985 Toyota pickup and my other Camry have the same issue.

Thanks a million for any assistance.
