Why is that? Does it not have grease points like the Camburgs? Or is it something that aftermarket UCA's just do? The Camburgs don't squeak do they? By the way, thanks for the heads up.brock said:be prepared for squeeks...
Thats pretty much it. Even with grease points, it'll start squeaking. If you can find out a date, wait for the Donahoe arms, because they'll be using heims instead of urethane bushings.Turtleboy said:The famous quote I have heard is, "Race truck parts, make race truck noises." I heard that Donahoe is fabricating a upper control arm that should be quieter, but no idea when it will be released.
Thanksbrock said:and turtleboy... beautiful truck you got there man.
well of course now.. but what he said does make A LOT of sense.. look up the price of heims and plan on replacing them every 6 months... look how much your upper arms cost after 2 years.SilverStreak05 said:LOL no offense man, but do you really think a guy at Camburg is going to encourage you to buy their leading competitors product?
IMO unless you'll be doing some hardcore desert racing or rock crawling, new upper arms are a waste of $$$.
That's ridiculous, if heims are so bad why are companies like ESB using them for their kits and 3-links? My buddy has a custom long travel kit that utilizes heims all over. He has abused it harder than most people ever will and hasn't had a single problem with heims.brock said:well of course now.. but what he said does make A LOT of sense.. look up the price of heims and plan on replacing them every 6 months... look how much your upper arms cost after 2 years.
i never said there was anythign wrong with heims? as i said before ive had plenty of them on my old truck. go ask mike (the owner of esb) how often you should replace your heims and then get back to me...kpagel said:That's ridiculous, if heims are so bad why are companies like ESB using them for their kits and 3-links? If you're using quality heims, they should not need replaced unless you're truly abusing the truck. Also, I know who Mike Clark is. I can email him if you'd like an answer, but his response times to emails are ridiculously slow, so you'll have to wait a couple weeks.brock said:i never said there was anythign wrong with heims? as i said before ive had plenty of them on my old truck. go ask mike (the owner of esb) how often you should replace your heims and then get back to me...
my old heims supplied by velocity fabrication were great FKs and were already starting to show some wear after about 8 months... i dont need an answer on how long a heim will last or how often it should be replaced. im just throwing my .2 out there.kpagel said:If you're using quality heims, they should not need replaced unless you're truly abusing the truck. Let me make it clear, I'm not arguing, just discussing. I don't want anything I say to sound hostile. Anyways, heims will show wear after time and use, just like anything. However, compare the wear of heims vs. the wear of a urethane bushing. I toasted the bushings in my Camburg arms twice (they completely tore in half) and I greased them up well. Everything is going to show wear, but the heims should hold up better than a urethane bushing. Also, most people will never put their trucks to such use as to necessitate a heim replacement. Hell, even me blowing out the urethane bushings was unheard of, most people won't ever abuse their trucks like that.brock said:my old heims supplied by velocity fabrication were great FKs and were already starting to show some wear after about 8 months... i dont need an answer on how long a heim will last or how often it should be replaced. im just throwing my .2 out there.
