I have an 05 Tacoma that, up till now, I did not need a towing ball for.

There seems to be choices as far as drop goes on the bracket.

I plan to tow nothing larger than small equipment trailers like one that would pull a tractor lawn mower or the like.

What would be a good compromise as far a drop goes while using a 2" ball.

3 1/2 seems popular but experienced input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

3 1/2 is what I got after doing measurements. It has worked well for both my father-in-law's enclosed motorcycle trailer and for the pop-up tent trailer we used to have. It's a good all-around drop.

Does your trailer sit level with the 3.5" drop?
Fairly level. IIRC, it still sat just a little nose high. But I think going any lower than 3.5 with stock suspension would be a bad idea because a heavier trailer is going to lower the back end a little more. Haven't hooked anything up since adding the AAL (and I sold my pop up trailer last fall).

I have the 4 leaf package installed and bought the 3 1/2 inch drop hitch. It is perfect for my use. Thanks again for the input guys.
