Toyota is bringing a new concept car to the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon that looks like a road-going LMP1 racecar.
The concept, which will be debuted under the Toyota Gazoo Racing subbrand, is called the GR Super Sport Concept. Toyota says it pulls inspiration from its TS050 LMP1-H racecar and will serve as an example of 'how technological feedback acquired through motorsports activities is incorporated,' into road cars.
The TS050 racecar is powered by a 90-degree 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 coupled with an 8-megajoule hybrid system, which together make 986 horsepower. Power is sent through the rear wheels through a sequential racing transmission. A similar set-up could appear in this concept, but with how outlandish this thing looks, it’s hard to say just what Toyota has up its sleeve here.
