TORONTO, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - Toyota Canada today announced that it will offer
an all-new 2004 Camry Solara SLE V6 Convertible in spring 2004 - just in time
for top-down summer driving. The new convertible will be sold in one,
extremely well-equipped version with more standard equipment, more sporty
performance and more safety features than ever before.
From the windows down, the Solara convertible has a sleek new body design
that gives the 2004 Solara lineup its distinctive, sculpted lines. Under the
hood, a new V6 engine provides plenty of power to match the sporty styling.
"The new Camry Solara Convertible was designed and built in North America
to exacting standards of excellence to satisfy North American tastes," said
Tony Wearing, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. "The result is a
refined, sophisticated package that combines sporty performance and
outstanding style with Toyota's unbeatable quality and reliability."

New Cleaner, More Powerful, More Fuel-Efficient V6
Solara Convertible is powered by the same responsive new 3.3-litre V6
that is found in Solara V6 coupes. This 24-valve, DOHC engine produces 225
horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 240 lb/ft of torque at 3,600 rpm.
In addition to a lighter-weight aluminum alloy block, the new engine is
equipped with Toyota's advanced Variable Valve Timing with intelligence
(VVT-i) and two-stage Acoustic Control Induction that tunes the intake
manifold to engine operating conditions. Electronic Throttle Control with
intelligence (ETCS-i) provides drive-by-wire fuel efficiency and reduced shift
shock.
A new 5-speed Sequential Multi-Mode Super ECT (Super-intelligent
Electronically Controlled Transmission) allows drivers to choose between
manual and automatic operation. In fully automatic mode, the transmission
manages shift decisions based on engine speed and load. Uphill and Downhill
Shift Logic monitor throttle angle and vehicle speed so the transmission stays
in the appropriate gear for extra control while climbing or descending a
grade.
The gated shifter also permits electronic "manual" gear selection. When
the transmission is in "S" mode, drivers can up- or down-shift by tapping the
shift knob forward or backward. As in fully automatic operation, the
transmission shifts itself into second gear when the vehicle slows to a stop.
The fuel-efficient 6-cylinder powertrain also reduces emissions and is
certified as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV).

For Sporty Driving, Control is Key
When the power kicks in, handling is kept taut with a suspension that
uses gas-filled MacPherson struts, coil springs and a stabilizer bar in front,
and an independent dual link suspension with gas-filled MacPherson struts and
stabilizer bar in the rear.
For enhanced traction and control under all driving conditions, the 2004
Camry Solara Convertible is equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
enhanced with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). Vehicle Stability
Control (VSC), including Traction Control (TRAC), is now standard. The TRAC
function may be deactivated by a switch on the instrument panel.

Equipped to Please
Inside, the new Camry Solara Convertible is fitted with an outstanding
range of comfort, convenience and luxury features including: premium 6-speaker
JBL audio with in-dash 6-CD changer and steering wheel audio controls;
automatic climate control; leather seats and trim; heated front seats; power
windows and door locks; auto-dimming rearview mirror with heated side mirrors;
cruise control; keyless entry with lockout protection; dual stage front
airbags; and more.
The 2004 Camry Solara Convertible will be at the Canadian International
Auto Show in Toronto from February 13-22, 2004. Pricing will be announced
closer to the on-sale date.

I wasn't a fan of the junior-SC430 look at first but damn! And now it's up to 225 hp even though Toyota persists in not offering a stick:mad:
