On Feb 6 I bought a 5 speed 2002 Toyota 4x4 Tacoma Ext Cab w/TRD package. When I took it for test drive the clutch didnt feel quite right but it wasnt bad and I really liked the truck so without thinking I went ahead and bought the truck without further inspecting the clutch. In the back of my mind I was thinking if there is a problem with the clutch beings its Toyota Certified the warranty will cover it.

Three days later the clutch started getting worst so I took it back to the dealership and after a lengthy conversation with the General Manager I got him to pay half of the cost of a new clutch kit (the warranty doesn't cover a "clutch friction disk or a pressure plate"), my cost $300.00. I've had the truck for less than a week and now whenever I take off the vehicle shudders, it does it when I down shift as well but not nearly as bad as when taking off in first gear.

I already called the dealership and am going to take the truck back in Monday, my question is, will the repairs that were made by the dealership be covered under their warranty or would it be safe to assume that I'm going to have to shell out more money to get this clutch to function properly?

I would like to think that because the truck was just worked on by them they would be responsible for the fixing of the vehicle.

Thanks

Thank you Humanoid :)

yes, they should warranty it. did the machine the flywheel?

They said they did.

What I should have done but it's obviously to late now is sold my Corvette and bought a truck like yours 6shooter. Im really diggin' that body style with the lift kit, you know what they say about hindsight.

I took the truck to the dealership this morning and went for test drive with the mechanic that actually did the work. He said they put everything in new... everything, including the fly wheel.

When I initially took the truck in I called after the second day just to get an update and the service writer said all their waiting on is the fly wheel to come back from the shop which made sense. Now the mechanic is telling me that a new fly wheel was installed. Which is it? Was the fly wheel sent out or did they use a new one?

Either way their fixing the truck under warranty but I don't trust dealerships in anyway shape of form. The service writer is supposed to call me later this afternoon to let me know what's wrong with the clutch. I'll bet my left arm he's going to try to weasel some money out of me.

I'll keep you posted.
