Hey folks. I'm in the market for a new car. I'm just trying to make an
educated decision before purchasing. So I was wondering if I could get
some feedback from other owners of the 2002-05 Toyota Corolla S. I just
want to know about gas mileage, any repairs or recalls, reliability,
safety. Basically, overall satisfaction.

My folks and my brother both own Corolla CE automatics (2004 and 2005
respectively). The CE has the same engine and tranny as the S. Both of
these Corollas experienced a bad rear wheel bearing early on (replaced
under warranty), but that has been it. They have been otherwise very
reliable as expected.

The best my folks have gotten on the highway with their Corolla is 40mpg.

My son just purchased a 2006 Corolla S stick. On one of his first
tanks of gas we measured 40 mpg. We were breaking it in on a freeway
varying the speed from 75 down to 55 and back during that tank.

It is a VERY nice piece of work. His has the sunroof.

It is too new to really tell you about reliability, but my 92 and 97
Corollas have been excellent.

Civic and Corrolla's have pretty much same average, same reliability
and good resale value....I prefer the civic more because of the looks
but then its individuals perception.

I would disagree.

The Corolla S in black is a far better looking car than the Civic.

IMHO
