They also extended the 01-04 Tacoma's frame warranty. I just got the notice in the mail today!!! The notice tells me to bring the truck in for
Corrosion-Resistant treatment to be applied by October 31 2010.
This will extend the warranty for 15 yrs from Vehicle's in service date.
They will check for perforation first and same rules apply as the previous models had.
:clap::clap::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Here is the link to my profile that has pics of the letter I received:

Well, you might've not gotten one as Toyota was only sending them to states where road salt is an issue. Florida I would think doesn't have this problem. But if you live by the ocean, you could see corrosion.

Canadian Letter?

I have an 02 taco, and I live in Canada, there is lots of salt, snow, and cold weather where i live. Any fellow Canadians hear anything about this yet or any one know about the "Canadian Letter" yet? I went to a local dealer and he told me that the offical letter wasn't released in Canada yet but it was in the works.

Ps. I have a busted leaf right now, you think I can replace the leaf and add one to each side, they are really sagged as well, I really need to do something about but just got laid off like month ago, want a cheap fix but want to go better then stock?

I haven't heard anything yet neither here (Calgary). I hope its coming soon as my frame looks preeeetty rusty...

As to your leaf question... Yeah, replace the busted leaf and then add a leaf (AAL) to both sides. I just did that to my 02 Taco as well and it cost me ~$75US for the Fabtech AAL. You can get it from Downsouthmotorsports.com. Super cheap, and carries dirtbikes/load a lot better now.

Good luck.

I would wait on the leaf until you get your truck inspected by Toyota. In the other article, it said they would replace that stuff too if it was deemed to be bad.
Here:
Along with a frame, dealers will receive kits that include all the necessary nuts, bolts, washers, clips, mounts, etc. Additionally, they will replace specific major components like leaf springs and lower control arms as necessary. They won’t replace mufflers, brakes and other wear items as part of the program. However, if the owner wants these parts replaced, we provide the opportunity to take advantage of labor savings.

True, but its hard to wait for a letter that hasn't come out yet in Canada to replace a busted leaf. If you want to use your truck, its safer to spend $100 and at least make the truck drivable.

Unfortunatly, you're right about Toyota quality. Used to really think they were a good buy for the dollar, but now I have questions. :disappoin Sometimes I regret buying the Tacoma. I'm really going to consider my options when it comes time to buy again. The only thing I have going for me is that I live in an area that doesn't use salt in the winter but that being said there is still to much rust underneath my truck compared to the domestic van I drive for my job. Maybe I'll buy a domestic brand next
time. (They use foreign parts too, thats why they are only a domestic brand. Take that Chevy boy!) Maybe I'll buy (GASP) a Honda Ridgeline or Nissan truck next time. But for now the Toyota cheap bastards got me over their fence ringing out all of my spare change.

I think that there are posters on this board who would defend their Toyota even if it rusted and broke in half going down the freeway and left them disabled. What a shame. :disappoin (And this is from a guy who formerly felt the same way, but decided to take the blinders off.) Damn you Toyota for fooling us; you won't be fooling me again. You guys built good trucks, what the hell happened???
