[Plagued]

Hi, when I try to start my car it ticks over and tries to start takes about 15 seconds and then starts. Have a check engine light on now. When it’s running it’s fine. Had it plugged in and got an error code about the fuel/air being out. He couldn’t tell me exactly without pulling my car apart. Said to start with fuel filter and go from there. Anyone had this problem can guide me before I spend more on my car then it’s worth?
